The Indiana State Yo-Yo Contest (ISYYC) is one of the largest and longest running state contest in the US. The contest gets better and better each year, and this year is no exception with extended hours in the venue for more time to hang out after the contest. The ISYYC is the only state contest that runs a tournament format giving the crowd real head-to-head competition. With world and national champions regularly showing up to compete, the ISYYC is a contest that yo-yo players in the Midwest will not miss! And neither should you!

Freestyle Divisions (1A-5A) - $10 registration fee for competitors for the first division, $5 for each additional division when registering online. Registering in person on the morning of the contest, $15 for the first division, $5 for each additional division.

Sport Ladder - $10 registration fee regardless of registering online or in person on the morning of the contest.

*Competitors may only compete in freestyle OR sport ladder, not both.

Spectators - FREE! That's right, FREE! So bring friends, family, extended family... everyone you know!

- There are no age divisions for sport ladder at Indy States. But we will be using the rules, regulations, and trick list from the National Yo-Yo League.
- 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A freestyle divisions. 1A and 5A divisions will be run tournament style.

General rules for all freestyle divisions.

Once the competitor's freestyle has begun:
The competitor may not leave the stage.
The competitor may not receive help from anyone during their freestyle.
The competitor may not retrieve a yo-yo that has fallen off the stage.

Music that contains any profanity, vulgarity or derogatory language will result in immediate disqualification for the competitor in all divisions. Absolutely no exceptions.

You may compete in one or more of the freestyle divisions, but please note that if you compete in any freestyle division, you may not enter the Sport Ladder division.

1A Tournament Division

Qualifying Round
One-minute freestyles. Top 16 move on to the Round of 16.
Qualifying Round freestyles will be judged using the same method as the U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest and World Yo-Yo Contest; Contest judges use "clickers" to award points using a positive and negative point system. The top 16 competitors advance to the Round of 16.

The players advancing to the Round of 16 will be put into the brackets according to their placing in the Qualifying Round. Places are marked on the outside of each bracket in the picture here.

Round of 16
Each match consists of two players, each performing a freestyle. The winner of each match will move on to the next round. Round of 16 and after will be judged by the three judges, each judging specific criteria:
Technical - hits, misses and difficulty
Originality - innovative aspects to tricks and trick elements
Performance - smoothness, style, trick flow and stage presence
Each of these criteria is one third of the player's freestyle score.

Round of 16
16 competitors > 8 matches of one-minute freestyles

Quarterfinals
8 competitors > 4 matches of one-minute freestyles

Semifinals
4 competitors > 2 matches of two-minutes

Third Place Match - the two players that were eliminated in the Semifinals.
2 competitors > 1 match of three-minute freestyles

First Place match - Winners from Semifinals
2 competitors > 1 match of three-minute freestyles

* MUSIC for 1A Tournament Division
DJ will choose music for Qualifying Round and Round of 16.

Players may bring a CD or USB flash drive with music that they would like to use for the Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final rounds. MP3 or WAV formats only.

2A, 3A and 4A Divisions

2A, 3A and 4A divisions
There will be no qualifying round. Competitors will perform a two-minute freestyle. Criteria Judged:
Technical - hits, misses and difficulty
Originality - innovative aspects to tricks and trick elements
Performance - smoothness, style, trick flow and stage presence
Each of these criteria is one third of the player's freestyle score.

5A Tournament Division

Qualifying Round

Qualifying Round freestyles will be judged just as Nat's and Worlds are judged. Two clickers (one for positive points and one for negative), highest 8 scores advance to the Quarterfinal Round.

Along with the coveted title of the 2013 Indiana State Yo-Yo Champion, there will be prizes given out to the top three in every division along with cash prizes for the following winners, The Indiana State Yo-Yo Champion 1A Division $200, the Indiana State Overall 1A Division Champion $100, The Indiana State Yo-Yo Champion 5A Division $100 and the Indiana State Overall 5A Division Champion $100. *The Indiana State Champion title goes to the highest placing Indiana state resident in each division.

We strongly encourage all competitors to register online. Fee must be paid the morning of event.
